Cabula: patrimônio disfarçado de bairro possibilidades de desenvolvimento territorial através de abordagens participativas do turismo.

Abstract

This dissertation is the result of a theoretical and empirical research in order to identify the cultural heritage of African origin in the neighborhood Cabula and their potential contribution to territorial development through participatory approaches of tourism in the city of Salvador, Bahia. This analysis is characterized as inductive character, with the experience of this particular neighborhood case. Then, through the descriptive method and field research, we attempted to meet and discuss the potential of cultural heritage for the implementation of participatory processes that involve the cultural identity of the inhabitants, territorial development, the need for stocks of intangible capital and the management of communitybased tourism. It was concluded that the cultural assets of African descent present in Cabula are able to contribute to the formation of local identity and the territorial development of the neighborhood. For this to happen the collaboration of government is necessary, through public policies, to expand its cultural dimension and strengthen local actions. Regarding the management of tourism, before any action directly related to the activity, should encourage the strengthening of intangible capital, primarily inventories of trust and for the emergence of decentralized institutions and leaders. The alternative is to invest in long-term actions for community participation and the development of Cabula are the hallmarks process factors. This research contributes to new management possibilities of tourism in Salvador-BA and is an invitation to the appreciation of the cultural memory of a neighborhood.
